Question: Working in South Korea or China?
I am going to college right now and want to work outside the USA when I graduate. I am getting my BA in Business. I am thinking about working in China or South Korea. Is it possible to find a job right out of college doing this?
Answer:
cheaper to stay home
I live and study in South Korea so I can help with some advice for there (Though I am pretty sure both Korea and China will have similar work opportunities for foreigners) to work in Korea you would most likely need some level of Korean.
In my class there is a man from Lebanon who's company has a office located in Seoul. Now he has to study Korean to work in the office here. It may not be essential, but it would help greatly with job opportunities.
To get most jobs in Korea, you do need a degree, which you will already have so that's a good point on your side. If you were happy to teach English for a while so you could learn Korean, that would most likely be very easy for you to do if English is your first language(I'm guessing it is, but just saying in case it's not)
so to be based in a Korean company will be very difficult. There is a huge competition for jobs in the business industry, with around 300 people or so applying for 1 of 5 positions. They will have the advantage on you for the obvious reason of language. My boyfriend who is Korean got a first class honours degree (sorry unsure of the American equivalent) but it's the best you can get, and it still took him many months to find a job even though he has many more advantages than you.
I'm not saying give up, just saying be realistic that it could take time. It would be extremely difficult for you to go right out of college.
It may be easier to find a job with in the states which has the opportunity of being transferred abroad to work in another countries branch.
No, see if your grades are good enough for job. If you do well you will want to find the best nicest job you want. Work in Korea. Korea has a nice job for you to teach english in korean high school.
