My grandmother is from argentina, but I look white and I don't consider myself latino or hispanic.
Do I need to put other or " I do not wish to answer this" in the bubble?
I the area I live in is highly hispanic and they might get offended or maybe it cna help me get my foot in the door but I dont want them to think I'm like them? because my middle name itialian and spanish. The sir name is tied to both spain and italy.
Answer:
technicall speaking they usually require that you are atleast 1/16 of a particular an ethnicity before you can actually claim it on legal documents. However generally speaking most people that I know do not claim to be hispanic unless they are at least half and even then most will specify they are half hispanic.
Keep in mind though I've met quite a few people that are a bit overly proud of their heritage and are unnecessarily outraged if someone claims a specific ethnicity if they aren't full hispanic.
If possible perhaps you can check both caucasian and hispanic and then explain in the interview. But if you don't feel comfortable completely claiming that ethnicity then I would think it's safe to say you probably shouldn't
I think that an illegal question. It's a discriminating question. Is this on a document. Do not fill it in! The document is illegal in the US I believe
