Question: What phone number can I report job fraud?
I found a job of personal assistant from the web-Craigslist.com. The boss works is in Austria now and wants an assistant in U.S.A. The duty is pick up some art materials and pay some bills. So frist job package was doing bill payment. He let someone send me a cashier check from London and I deposited it my account and withdrew some money and sent it to his customers. So I did that right away. Of course follow his instruction and I had my salary. Later, bank sent me back the check and was charged money back from my account. The reason is REFER TO CHECK MAKER. I found out the check which sent it to me was copy check. On the check, the date and name were typed. The origial check had been cashed before. I loss my money. Also, that check was issued from California's one bank branch, but check was sent to London, then is sent it to me. FUNNY?
Answer:
You got scammed. It's an old one and a common one. You can report it to your local police, but they aren't going to be able to do anything about it. Your money is just gone.
did you actually fall for this SCAM..........
I am sorry and do not mean to belittle you (actually it is sad that you are so desperate) but this is an old scam.
almost every job on Craigslist is a SCAM, even the website has a disclaimer stating this....
you can contact your local police station and file a report, you can also contact this website to report this crime/scam:
http://www.ic3.gov
The IC3 was established as a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C) to serve as a means to receive Internet related criminal complaints and to further research, develop, and refer the criminal complaints to federal, state, local, or international law enforcement and/or regulatory agencies for any investigation they deem to be appropriate.
That's a very common check fraud, not a job fraud. Report it to the Police.
If you got scammed and were the victim of check fraud you report this to your local police and bring them copies of ALL emails you received from the scammer printed with full headers
You should have done that immediately after you found out the check bounced and brought a copy of the police report to your bank manager.
