Question: What opportunities do i have with a UK law degree to find a job in austria?
i am studying law in the uk and thiking to move to austria after graduation .i am wondering if my degree is any use out side the UK.thanks for your time.
Answer:
i'm sure that some companies could put your specialised knowledge of british law to very good use; i don't know, however, how easy it would be to find these. generally speaking, it can never hurt to have a degree in austria, many people are quite old-fashioned about professional titles (dr., m.a. or whatever) and in general with a degree your chances to find a job are a lot better than without one, even more so than in other countries.
that said, can you speak german? if you want to boost your chances of finding a job here, i would work on my german, if only to be able to master it to a certain level, say, for having routine conversations with people, and to show you're taking an interest in local culture. also, many employers see it as a prerequisite to speak at least a bit of german. don't stress over this too much, though, in everyday life you can survive very well with english.
