Question: What's a good way to quit your job?
Right now I work at McDonalds and it sucks. The managers always call me by a wrong name and yell at me to work harder. Whenever I work my shifts I work none stop without any drinks. I need a polite way to quite my job. Any advice?
Answer:
Be nice about it and give a good reason for leaving. 2 weeks notice doesn hurt if you're going to use them as a reference.
Each McDonalds is owned by a different person because they are franchised. Sometimes one person though will own a few local franchises. The managers are different at different places so please don't take it out on McDonalds. You can apply at a different McDonalds. McDonalds, from what I understand, is one of those places that supports students. I'd say be sure you have another job to go to before you say to your manager that you'd like to leave and Friday is your last day. Checks are usually given out on Fridays. However he or she might determine they weren't happy with you and let you go on the spot so it might be a problem for you monetarily. Maybe to tell them on a Thursday morning would be good, or Thursday afternoon if you don't get paid weekly. Giving 2 weeks notice isn't required on that kind of job.
Smart--always be polite when exiting. Even if you feel like it, it's not smart to burn bridges because you never know when you might want something else that person can provide in the future.

There are a number of things you can say, but I advise honesty--that way you don't have to 'remember' what you said and look like a schmuck if later asked again and are giving completely different reasons. But being honest doesn't mean you have to tell everything. So stick with something like, "This job was a good starting place, but I think it's time I move on to something else because I'm not suited for it. So this is my two weeks notice that I'm quitting."
make sure you are nice about it because you can use them as a referemce when you apply for a new job. if you are mean or give them too short of a notice, they wont want to help you.
Give them at least two weeks notice. Basically fill out a form if they have it, or write a note (make sure to photocopy it for your personal records) stating that on say March 1st you will no longer be working for them. Tell them a nice reason for it, like planning on going to school or personal/family issues make it impossible to continue working at this time, something like that. Just stay calm, and work normally or even work harder until your quitting day.
