Question: Urgent help needed pls! Having problems with employer within my notice period!?

Hello,
I have been working for about two years in a local NGO and i am having problems with my employer. I never had a single disciplinary letter written to me during my work and right before I decided to quit, I was being given assignments that were impossible to complete, especially because I have been frequently ill because of stress related complications like dizziness and ulcer, for which I have proper evidence.
However now, within my resignation notice period, I had more assignments and got very sick, and while I was on sick leave within my notice period the organization all of a suden wrote me a letter stating that I have been abusing my responsibilities before and after I have submitted my notice and to finalize an extensive report in a short time and hand in my documents

The problem is one I have not abused my work and I have been regulary submitting the progress of the reports and work I was doing and now I am sick again and have proper sick leave so I cant finalize it until I get better. I have held all my work evidences, and this claim is just them trying to sabotage my reference and things like that- I am 22 years old I have a BA in Economics and I am leaving because I found international training opportunities which they tried to keep me from saying they refuse to let me use my personal leave because they needed me at the office (w/c is basically always).
So I have written a letter back stating that I dont accept the cliam and I want to be presented with proper evidence to support me abusing my work and that I would present mine as well so that the matter can be handled lawfully. They have already ruined hte matter so there is no way I can play it safe for reference anymore although I am not worried about it becuase I have multiple job offers on my hand, and if the matter escalates am prepared to go to court with my evidence!

Please advice me about what to do and also if there's a possibility of quitting within my notice period by paying for the remaining days or anything becuase I can't handle the stress and I can't keep bringing sick leaves! I have about 17 days left!

Help please, I am desperate!

I started getting sick about 2 months ago- I have worked like a slave for more than 2 yrs including extending volunteer services, and I am now in 1 month notice period that I am required to give. I want to know if there is a way to quit before I finish the notice period and how to go about it?


Answer:

Just quit today and file a lawsuit. Mention American Disabilities Act to your employer and they will shower you with money and never bother you again.

Just quit, you will lose the rest of your pay for the notification period, but you will not owe them.
I would leave it there unless you WANT to take further action and can afford a solicitor but be warned this could be costly and time consuming.
As regards references in the UK an employer cannot give a bad reference however by using certain wording they can usually get around that, it seems that should not be a problem with your mutiple jobs offers and even if your new employer does ask I am sure you can give a good reply.
Try not to stress yourself but look forward to what lies ahead not what your leaving behind.
