Question: This is a question for people working in the gov. and non-profit line of work?
I want to get a job in this line of work. I'm 23 with a BA in liberal studies. and have worked since i was 18 (i was a substitute teacher for 2 years and drug tested company employees for 6 years) However, neither of these jobs will likely be related to a job i get in this new line of work. My question to you is this: many government and nonprofit jobs just require a 4 year degree and experience. So I can start entry level and work my way up, I suppose. Do you think my opportunities would GREATLY increase if i got a masters in public administration? Or would people with only a BA and a few years experience have a better chance of a job than me? Just trying to see if the degree would be valuable or a waste of time/money.
Answer:
Oh for cripes SAKE
WHERE do you people get this absurd notion that ALL government and nonprofit jobs are exactly the same, requiring the same education and skills?
Seriously
WHO TOLD YOU THAT????
Nonprofits and government have staff titles ranging from garbage collector to CEOs of major multi-billion dollar departments.
And everything in between.
There are MILLIONS of jobs in your category.
Look at this.
