Answer:

Simply be very honest with them, explain the reason and ask for unpaid leave. They may say no, but they also may say yes.

If you really need to go you will if need be happily take a chance and walk away from the job if need be.

Lots of companies (especially large chains like this one) have systems in place whereby you can take a career break - unpaid leave for a a period of time. Approach your supervisor or Personnel and ask if there is anything in place where you work.

Be honest, give them the reason why you need to take this leave of absence, you might find that they are sympathetic. Approach them with the idea that 'you love working there so much...it's just that this emergency (whatever it is) has come up.

Tesco offer career breaks to their staff once they have been employed for 2 years or more. If you haven't been employed that long, see if your manager has some discretion - or even to make an arrangement to reapply when you return.

You are going to have to leave the job unless you can get them to agree maybe to you having 3 months unpaid leave ,but they will want to know why,and they may say that they cannot keep your job open that long. You cant expect them to pay you can you?

honesty is the best policy. If you have worked for them for a while then they will have invested some amount of training in you, and you have built up experience. So there is every chance that they would be willing to keep your job open for you, or at least find you a similar position in the branch or at a nearby one. Set out your case keeping to facts not emotions, present all the reasons why it would be in their positive interests to keep you, and there is a good hope that they will co-operate with you. After all, if you want to return to your job it shows you are loyal and happy there and therefore liable to stay with them in the future.

You don't ask you don't get. tell them you need 3 months off and would like to retain your employment when you return. that's all you can do really. If they say no then unfortunately no is the answer.

Rather unlikely unless you can prove it is some sort of family emergency

think about it, if they can cope with out you for 3 months then they don't need you
in this day and age no employer will keep someone on who they do not need

No good asking us - talk to Tesco.
