Question: Leaving school early: Tips for getting jobs, applying for short courses and preparing myself for the workforce?

I am a girl. I live in New Zealand. I am 15, turning 16 in March. In New Zealand, the legal age to leave school at is 16. I have completed my IGCSE's and passed everything, but are enrolling at a well respected Hair Dressing training academy, which course starts in April (while the new school year starts in Feb). My family fully supports me in the decision to leave school and go and do tertiary training, and it is honestly something I am very serious and passionate about. I go to a private school right now, which charges $6000 dollars a term (I think it is called a semester in America), and also sues $6000 for next terms fees if they do not have 1 terms notice. Confusing, I know... Anyway, my family and I both agree that rather than being sued for $12,000 grand, I could start work now (as it is Xmas holidays) and work full time up until my course starts. I currently do volunteer work experience at a clothes shop, but are finding it hard to find a job! I have applied at some many places, but so many people my age and older are also looking for jobs too which makes it difficult! I am thinking of doing a short barrister course in the mean time which would mean I could get a job at a coffee shop until then. I am really unsure though! Any tips for getting jobs or applying for courses or just preparing myself for joining 'the working world' in general would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:

Sorry, it's not possible to give you meaningful advice but your parents would be able to do that much better. Just one little thing I wanted to say: A barrister is a lawyer. I think you meant you wanted to take a class to be a barista, not a barrister.
