Question: Job offer from Ghana?

My Costa Rican friend Luis has just received a job offer from a company called Gazimpex in Ghana, they will pay for his fees, tickets and visa, accommodation and have offered a very good salary. They say he has to pay for an Affidavit Of Guarantee through an attorney named Kofi Steven, Attorney 45 Chambers, Unit 2, Sprintex Road. My friend has already paid $240 for this attorney and for the document. Today the attorney told him "I couldn't obtain the Affidavit Of Guarantee yesterday since The Supreme Court are asking of Approval Letter from the Costa Rican Embassy. The Costa Rica Embassy is not in Ghana but is located in Nairobi, Kenya and in Johannesburg, South Africa. I prefer in Nairobi, Kenya since is closer than South Africa but we want you to send the sum of $450 USD to book a flight to and from Kenya to obtain the Approval Letter from your Embassy in Kenya since the Supreme Court Of Ghana require the Approval Letter before they can issued the Affidavit Of Guarantee."
It is beginning to sound like a scam. Can you tell me if this is true? My friend is really confused and will appreciate your help. Because if it is a scammer he doesn't want to waste his hard earned money. His contact with Gazimpex is Mrs. Elizebeth Okia, Human Resource Department, Gazimpex Construction & Civil Engr. Co., +233543616563
Thank you for helping me help my friend Luis.

Good Day!

I also received this kind of job offer from the same company Gazimpex in Ghana. Please help if this is really true.

Thanks.

SCAM - there is no job

First of all, you NEVER pay money if you are sponsored for a job. Attorney fees are ALWAYS paid by the employer as are ALL other associated fees. A company cannot sponsor you if they are not paying for everything - legal fees, application, visa fees, flights, etc. I've worked in 4 foreign countries and have NEVER been asked to pay a cent for anything. The employer has ALWAYS paid for everything

Second, why would a legitimate company be using a pay as you go mobile phone number instead of a landline

Third, there is no company in Ghana by that name. That's a fake website that was created just a few months ago

Fourth, an Affadivit of Guarantee is something the EMPLOYER issues and doesn't cost anything. It's just a letter on corporate letterhead signed by a company officer stating that the company is financially responsible for the employee while they are in the country and must ensure his return to his country before his visa expires. There is NO cost for this document

Fifth, the Supreme Court does NOT get involved in any immigration matters. And there is NO such thing as an Approval Letter

All you have to do is call the Costa Rican embassy in Kenya or South Africa and they will confirm it's a scam

Tell your friend not to send ANY more money - he is caught up in an elaborate scam that will keep asking for more and more money until he finally figures out he was scammed and there is NO job

Just look at the Mission Statement on the "about us" section of their website. That same statement was copied (with just one minor change) from an American company called Arrow Road Construction
http://www.arrowroad.com/mission.htm

If it's on the internet and it's from Africa, it's a scam.

Than maybe you should ask a legitimate question, troll.

I am currently working for Gazimpex & they PAY GREAT! I had to go through the same thing & after I gave them my bank account & social security number they were able to get it straightened out & transfer the funds directly into my account. Living in Ghana is just wonderful, I only have to work a few hours a day & then I get to go back to my apartment & have my 2 new Ghanan girlfriends serve me dinner & take turns giving me back rubs. Kofi is actually a pretty cool boss, as he has already promoted me to chief lavatory officer & every Friday we take off early from work to puff on some of the killer Ghanan weed they have legalized over here. Elizabeth in the front office is kind of a ball breaker, but if Luis gives her the payment she will get things worked out promptly. Good luck & I will keep an eye out for Luis when he starts his new career.
