Answer:
get out a piece of paper and write down any skills or experiences you have. this could include babysitting, yardwork, housework, any volunteering. write down things like whether or not you're strong enough to lift 20 or 40 pounds. do you type well? how are your computer skills? how're your language and math skills? mostly, this is for your own self-assessment. it might help you when you go to an interview.
then think about what kind of job you'd like. has anything you've done in the past prepared you for that?
then go down to the unemployment office and see what they have posted there. don't be shy about this, lots of employers only post jobs there, no place else. then go ahead and put in applications. glance through it first so that you don't make mistakes. neatness counts. make sure you find out the last day of school so that you can put down what date you'll be available to start work. also, check your local paper to see what jobs they have.
never, never, never call instead of going in unless you have no choice. anyone can answer the phone and say no. if you go in, ask to speak to the manager, then ask him/her if there are any job openings.
be careful how you dress. don't wear anything too faddish, tight or revealing. no shorts or short skirts. don't wear a lot of make-up or jewelry. make sure your hair is neat and somewhat pulled back, at least not hanging in your face. slacks and a button blouse are best but you can get away with jeans if they're clean and pressed. your new employer is looking for a neat, clean cut, well mannered employee.
usually online or at the place you want to work. If they have a website, they usually have a section with registration forms. If not, just go to the place and ask for papers.
