Question: I need some career advice?

I'm almost done with my Bachelor's degree in math. I went into college thinking I would become a college professor -- I put all my eggs in one basket and decided that WAS what I was going to be. However, with each passing day I'm realizing I am not cut out to be one. All I ever do is memorize proofs without really understanding them to get A's in my classes, and one of my teachers started me in the peer tutoring center and I haven't been doing a very good job (I can't seem to remember a lot of what I've done before -- probably because I memorized most of it).

I dread going into the center because I am afraid of all the questions I will be asked that I don't know how to do, and I'm pretty sure I want to quit so I don't feel so stressed about it anymore. Trouble is, if I do that, then I won't get a TA position in the master's program to teach a college algebra class ( which I actually really wanted to do).

I would classify myself as someone who isn't very smart but is willing to work hard. After all, it was pretty tough to memorize a lot of that material to get A's in those classes, and I put in the work to do it. What kinds of jobs are out there for people who fit that description? Thanks for your help.

Answer:

With your background in math and ability to memorize I think you could do well as a technical inspector for aviation or even for a construction company. In aviation their are many Technical manuals and many repairs have references to other manuals and figures so knowing these off the top of your head speeds the repair inspection process not to mention makes it easier to catch mistakes.
