Question: I am Australian looking for Engineering work in UK?
Hey Guys
I am an Australian Citizen, currently working in Sydney as a Project Engineer in the precast industry. I love Europe, I am fluent in English and French. I am looking for work in Europe mainly in the UK, Germany, Luxembourg, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, etc. Do you guys think that's possible to find a job as a project engineer/Manager in the construction industry or Precast? Im 37 yo, how does it work with the visa? Are jobs available for foreigners?
Your help is highly appreciated as I don't want to risk quitting my current job if I don't secure something in Europe.
Answer:
You would need a job or a sponsor before you can get a work visa in the UK, you would need to have skills that are needed and workers from EC countries get priority
Maybe if you write to some firms here in the UK and find out what they have to offer you job wise, then you can compare these offers of what you have at the moment, hence you can determine if you should quite your present job or stay where you are.
to get a job - yes. Do you really want to quitt your job for a visa with restrictions and limited in time

The one thing I would recommend is to ensure you have either secured a job before you come, ensuring that you have legal right to work in the UK with all of the relevant visa's. In recent years companies are less inclined to sponsor overseas workers so many of them are only looking for staff that already have the right to work in the UK.
If you have good experience I don't think you will find it hard getting work, language skills are always a bonus.
