Question: Can i get a job in a travel agents without any experience?
I live in the UK and just wondered if they do? Ive done a travel and tourism course at college and have a lot of interest in the travel industry but all of the jobs ive looked at online say you need previous experience in working in a travel agents! :(
How am i supposed to ever get a job in one then? If there are any travel agents here or know any information please let me know!! and maybe some advice on what i should do, thankyou!! xx
Answer:
It's basically a retail sales job and most companies will train you but i guess having a more experienced person will save the cost/time of training someone up which with so many jobless out there now they can pick and choose due to the closure of so many travel companies.
Some on travel agencies requires that and some agencies also will train you before you will be designate to the field. You have a good educational background so why not try to do OJT or internship for that. Just find any local business related to travel industries that caters jobs like that for your work experience.
Call a local agency and see what schooling it requires. They want to hire someone that immediately can work and not teach. You cant learn on the job or they could lose bookings by your inexperience. Theirs computer software that needs to be learned, as well as other things.
You have some educational knowledge so you should be able to find something part-time. If not, apply as an intern OR volunteer for a few weeks to gain the needed experience.
Also, when it says online you need previous experience you may be able to get the job if you speak to the manager at a particular branch in person. They are usually a lot nicer in person :)
Its more or less a case of getting yourself out there x
