Question: Can I get a job in retail with no experience?
So I'm 18 and I've never worked before but I would like to get a job now. Could I get hired at a retail place with no experience? Places I would like to work are JC Penny, Michael's, CVS, Walgreen's, Payless, Target, or Hobby Lobby. I know a few of those places hire at 16 so it seems like they would take people without experience but I'm not sure.
I also have a few questions about working in retail (if you have the time). How are your hours broken up in your schedule? I only want to work 15 hours a week so does that mean I would do three, 5 hour shifts a week? Or do they just break up the hours however they want? Also, will I become a cashier right away (and will they train me) or will I have to do other jobs like stocking or something first?
Sorry I wrote so much but I really appreciate anyone who takes the time to read it and answer at least some if not all of it. 10 points to whoever can help me. Thanks.
Answer:
Quit asking people how to do something and do it. Why do you need validation from strangers? Go have these conversations with retailers, not strangers on Yahoo.
Yes DEFINITELY! My first job with no experience was in retail. I honestly believe for a newbie with no experience in the working world that retail is the most generous when it comes to hiring people. It is my belief that retail is the starting point for most getting into the working world. If retail does not cut it, most apply for federal work study when they get to college for a more professional feel.
Yes, you can get a job in retail business without experience but it is necessary that you should have good qualification.
