Question: Any good summer job suggestions? Please!?
I am a 15 year old in New Mexico and I want to get a job over the summer. I know I can babysit, do yard work, etc. But I want to have an actual steady paying job while school is out. Please no funny / annoying comments!
Thanks! :)
Answer:
Usually groceries stores have younger age for baggers and shelf stockers. Try talking to the manager or cashier at a non-discount grocery. Many offer part time high school students small scholarships for college and if you do not mind working after school and weekends you can build up hours.
Generally stores want over 18 employees for cashiers. als check with small employers who have a ned for a part time employee such as a copy/print center UPS or Mail boxes etc. They are franchise s but owned independently.
Not many people are interested in hiring minors for the summer work only. At 15, you'll have more limited hours and work restrictions than a 16 year-old or an adult would have such as you can't touch a box compactor, use a box cutter (in my state), operate machinery, or go so long without a break.
You may be able to get hired for cart pushing or working fast food in the front. You may be able to work under the table too, but I don't recommend that. I have heard of McDonalds running programs to hire youths in some states, but that's rarer now with the economy the way it is.
It will be easier when you are 16 to get a job since the work restrictions ease up slightly.
